Blogs & Articles: Bitcoin ‘State of the Union’ Oct 2017 w/ Bobby Lee 🔗 6 years ago

As Co-founder and CEO of BTCC (and BTC China), one of the world’s longest-running Bitcoin exchanges (and also one of the biggest), Bobby is highly involved in the global Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency community.

Since 2015, Bobby and I have been sitting down for an annual chat to discuss the current state of all things Bitcoin.

Each interview is about 90 minutes long, and in them we discuss the merits of Bitcoin, ecosystem developments since our last chat, investing do’s and don’ts, price movements, adoption rates, and much more.

Of course, 2017 has been a breakout year for Bitcoin, with prices, adoption rates, and mainstream media attention skyrocketting. This year has also seen the explosion of ICO’s, as ever more projects (both legit and not) come online, and speculators see an opportunity to make a quick buck.

2017 has also seen Bitcoin experience a hardfork, which resulted in the creation of Bitcoin Cash. The so-called ‘scaling debate’ has been heated and continues to cause deep divides within the cyrptocurrency community as solutions are suggested to accommodate the growing adoption of Bitcoin.

The highly contentious ‘SegWit2x’ hardfork was recently cancelled, but there remain many interesting storylines that have been developing this year, which will likely have a large impact on the near-term future of Bitcoin .

Will Bitcoin crash and confirm the beliefs of those who have called it a ‘fraud’ and a ‘ponzi scheme’, or will it continue to play an ever greater role in our financial (and other parts) of our lives, rapidly increasing in value as the die-hard supporters believe?
