Former President Donald Trump has been confirmed as a speaker at Bitcoin 2024, the largest Bitcoin conference globally, scheduled for July 25th to 27th in Nashville, Tennessee.

This announcement marks a notable moment for the event, known for significant industry announcements and news.

In 2021, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele announced Bitcoin as legal tender, while in 2023, U.S. Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. gave a speech supporting the Bitcoin industry.

With two U.S. Presidential candidates, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Donald Trump, scheduled to speak, this conference could impact future Bitcoin policy in the U.S.

Trump’s inclusion as a speaker is significant given his recent engagements with the Bitcoin community. 

Last month, he met with key U.S. Bitcoin miners, including representatives from CleanSpark and Riot Platforms, to express his support for Bitcoin mining both internationally and in Washington, D.C.

In May, Trump pledged to ensure the future of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency would be developed in the U.S. and vowed to protect the self-custody rights of the nation’s 50 million holders if elected president.

As Trump campaigns for the presidency, his support for Bitcoin contrasts with President Joe Biden, who has been less favorable towards the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency industry. 

With Biden yet to confirm his participation at Bitcoin 2024, the event may highlight the differing approaches of the candidates towards Bitcoin.
